About Tessa
I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering and have nine years of experience teaching programming at multiple levels. My passion lies in guiding students to transform logical thinking into practical solutions and helping them gain confidence in their technical abilities. I emphasise clarity, encouragement, and real-world application in every lesson, adapting instruction to meet individual needs. I strive to foster independence, resilience, and creative thinking alongside technical proficiency. My goal is for learners to leave each session with the skills, mindset, and confidence to tackle complex problems and build meaningful digital projects. Outside the classroom, I continue exploring new programming languages, frameworks, and technological developments. Teaching programming is not just my career — it is my purpose, allowing me to share the power of structured thinking, creativity, and innovation with every student.

Programming is a way to structure thought and creativity into tangible digital solutions. My teaching emphasises conceptual clarity, logical thinking, and practical application to ensure students develop a strong foundation in computer science. I foster a collaborative, engaging environment where learners feel safe to experiment, fail, and rebuild understanding, helping them develop resilience and confidence. Lessons combine theoretical concepts with hands-on coding exercises, real-world examples, and iterative problem-solving to make abstract ideas accessible and meaningful. Beginners learn variables, loops, conditionals, and basic functions to develop computational thinking. Intermediate students explore object-oriented programming, data structures, algorithms, and debugging techniques. Advanced learners work on software architecture, collaborative coding projects, and application deployment. I incorporate exercises that mimic real-world challenges, ensuring students not only write code but understand its design, efficiency, and implications. Through programming, students develop analytical thinking, perseverance, and confidence. They begin to approach problems methodically, optimise solutions, and creatively construct systems that solve meaningful challenges. Programming becomes more than technical skill — it becomes a mindset for innovation, independence, and logical problem-solving that carries over into all areas of study and life.
