About Jordyn
Hi there! My name is Jordyn Cocozello, and I am currently a Sophomore Health Sciences student on a Pre-Med track at The Ohio State University. I have previous experience as a Peer Tutor and Peer Leader alongside being a Co-Teacher, working with children, and much more. I pride myself on being approachable, encouraging, and understanding, and I always try to make learning less stressful and more comfortable for students. My goal as a tutor is not only to help students improve academically, but also to help them feel more confident in their abilities. I am somebody who is kind, compassionate and ready to help students succeed.

With previous tutoring and teaching experience, I know I would be a strong tutor. I am patient, reliable, kind, and genuinely passionate about helping students learn and gain confidence academically. I currently attend The Ohio State University as a Health Sciences major on a Pre-Med track, which has strengthened my own academic skills while continuing to teach me discipline, communication, and adaptability.
As a tutor, my approach is very student-centered. I understand that every student learns differently, so I adjust my teaching methods based on the subject and the student’s individual needs. My goal is not only to help students complete assignments or prepare for exams, but to help them truly understand concepts in a simpler and less overwhelming way because I know that was what always helped me. I always try to create a positive, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes while learning.
For me, a typical session usually begins by identifying what the student is struggling with most. From there, I review concepts step-by-step, work through examples, and then allow the student to practice independently while I guide them only when needed.
A lot of my work is dependent on the subject. For SAT or test preparation, I like to use practice exams, prep books, and customized review materials to target weaker areas. For math and other academic subjects, I often ask students to send topics or assignments beforehand so I can prepare additional practice problems and explanations tailored to their coursework.
What I feel sets me apart as a tutor is my patience, adaptability, and strong communication skills. I genuinely care about student progress and work hard to ensure students not only improve academically, but also feel more confident in their abilities. My lessons are best suited for elementary through high school students, including students needing help with math, science, general coursework, or SAT/test preparation.
