About Traci

I am a Spanish educator with 25 years of teaching experience at the secondary and university levels. I hold a Master’s degree in Spanish Education from the University of Georgia (graduated summa cum laude) and a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish and International Affairs from Florida State University (graduated cum laude).

I currently teach Spanish at Woodward Academy in Atlanta, where I have developed curricula for Honors courses as well as courses designed to support students with diverse learning needs. My experience also includes teaching AP Spanish Language and Literature and teaching undergraduate Spanish courses at Georgia Tech and the University of Georgia.

In addition to teaching, I am a certified Spanish Speaking and Writing Rater for Avant STAMP, a language proficiency assessment used to evaluate students’ real-world communication skills.

My love of Spanish began when I spent a year living in Mexico as a Rotary exchange student during high school. Spanish has remained an important part of my life ever since. My husband is from Peru, our three children are bilingual, and we speak Spanish at home. Between my family, travels, and teaching, Spanish is a language I use and enjoy every day.

After 25 years in the classroom, I still genuinely love teaching Spanish and helping students develop the skills and confidence to communicate in another language!

About the lesson

I believe students learn best when they feel comfortable, confident, and genuinely enjoy the experience. I take the time to get to know each student—their personality, interests, strengths, and challenges—so I can tailor lessons to their individual needs and learning style.

With 25 years of teaching experience, I’ve learned that no two students learn exactly alike. Some benefit from structured grammar explanations, while others thrive through conversation, games, real-life situations, and learning language in meaningful chunks. I adapt my approach to what works best for each student.

My goal is to make Spanish approachable, engaging, and even fun! I love seeing students who once found Spanish frustrating begin to understand it, participate confidently, and actually look forward to our lessons. I build positive relationships with my students, and they typically find our time together both enjoyable and productive.

Whether you need help succeeding in Spanish class, preparing for an exam, improving your conversational skills, or building a stronger foundation, I’ll work with you to develop a personalized approach that helps you reach your goals.
