  • 1) Do you speak this language fluently because of your origins or because a teacher inspired you to learn?

Persian is my mother tongue, and I have been surrounded by its beauty since childhood. Having lived in both Iran and Afghanistan, I have experienced the language in its diverse forms, from the poetic expressions of Tehran to the rich literary traditions of Herat. This unique exposure has given me a deep understanding of the nuances between different dialects and cultural influences. While my origins made me fluent, my passion for teaching and sharing the language has only grown stronger over the years.
  • 2) Can you name a living, historical, or fictional character that you think is the emblematic representative of the language's culture?

One of the most emblematic figures in Persian culture is Ferdowsi, the great Persian poet and author of Shahnameh. His work ensured the survival of the Persian language at a time when it faced decline, making him a guardian of linguistic and cultural heritage. However, I would also like to mention Khwaja Abdullah Ansari of Herat, a great Persian mystic and poet whose writings deeply influenced Persian literature and spirituality. His heartfelt poetry, infused with devotion and wisdom, is still recited with admiration in Persian-speaking societies today.
  • 3) Is there a typical word, phrase, tradition, or behavior in the language that you particularly like?

I love the phrase "جانم فدایت" (Jânam Fadâyat), which means "May my soul be sacrificed for you." It beautifully reflects the deep affection and generosity of Persian culture, where love and respect are expressed in poetic ways. Whether in Iran or Afghanistan, such heartfelt phrases are a common part of daily interactions, making conversations feel warm and meaningful.
  • 4) Why does speaking this language matter to you?

Persian is more than a language; it is a bridge between ancient wisdom and modern expression. It connects me to the rich history, poetry, and traditions of both Iran and Afghanistan. Speaking Persian allows one to appreciate the works of Rumi, Hafez, Saadi, and countless others in their original form, where the true essence of their words remains intact. As someone who has lived in both countries, I see how Persian serves as a unifying force, carrying stories, emotions, and identity across generations.
  • 5) What is the main difficulty in learning this language, and what can help the process of learning?

One of the main challenges of learning Persian is the difference between spoken and written Persian, as well as the variety of dialects across Persian-speaking regions. For example, Persian in Tehran, Herat, and Kabul share the same foundation but have differences in pronunciation and vocabulary. Additionally, Persian poetry and idioms can be challenging for learners to grasp at first. However, immersion is key-watching Persian films, listening to music, and engaging in conversation with native speakers helps students overcome these difficulties and gain fluency more naturally.
  • 6) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your language learning or your days at school.

I once had a student who struggled with Persian pronunciation, particularly the soft and poetic rhythm of the language. To help them, I introduced Persian poetry as a learning tool. One day, they confidently recited a verse from Rumi, and I could see the joy in their eyes as they realized they were finally mastering the sounds. This experience reinforced my belief that Persian is not just a language to be studied-it is an art form to be felt. Whether in Iran or Afghanistan, poetry is deeply woven into daily life, and using it as a learning tool makes the process much more enjoyable.
  • 7) How has travel or a specific trip helped you to increase your skill and knowledge of the language?

Having lived in both Iran and Afghanistan, I have had the opportunity to experience Persian in its different forms. Traveling to Herat, a city known for its rich literary and artistic history, was particularly eye-opening. I visited historic sites, listened to local storytellers, and observed how Persian is spoken with a unique elegance in that region. This experience gave me a deeper appreciation for how the language evolves within different cultural and historical contexts. Each Persian-speaking region has its own charm, and my travels have enriched my understanding of these subtle yet meaningful variations.
  • 8) What makes you a Superprof in language?

My deep cultural knowledge, firsthand experience of Persian in both Iran and Afghanistan, and my ability to make learning engaging and accessible set me apart as a Persian teacher. I don't just teach grammar and vocabulary; I bring Persian history, poetry, and everyday expressions into my lessons. My students don't just learn Persian-they experience it, feel its rhythm, and connect with its beauty on a deeper level. With my guidance, learning Persian becomes an inspiring journey rather than just an academic pursuit.
