About Bharthi

I’m Bharthi, a university student and Speech and Drama Scholar with a strong passion for English, communication, and helping others succeed. Having recently completed NCEA at a high level, I have a clear understanding of current assessment standards and what is required to achieve Excellence.

My background in speech, performance, and academic writing has shaped the way I approach English, not just as a subject, but as a skill that builds confidence, clarity, and the ability to express ideas effectively. I have also taken on leadership and mentoring roles, which have strengthened my ability to guide and support you guys in a structured, professional way.

I want to teach because I understand how challenging English can feel when expectations are unclear. My goal is to simplify complex ideas, build confidence, and help you develop strong, independent thinking skills. I aim to create a supportive and focused learning environment where you can feel comfortable asking questions and improve step by step.

About the lesson

I’m Bharthi, a Speech and Drama Scholar who approaches English tutoring through clarity, confidence, and creativity. My goal is to help students not just “get through” English, but actually understand and enjoy it.

My teaching focuses on breaking ideas down into simple, clear steps. Whether it’s essay writing, unfamiliar texts, or speech preparation, I guide students to structure their thinking, choose strong evidence, and explain ideas in a way that stands out. I also bring in techniques from speech and drama, like voice, tone, and expression, to help students communicate with confidence, especially for presentations and assessments.

All lessons are conducted online, making them flexible and accessible. I use shared documents, live feedback, and interactive discussion to keep sessions engaging and effective.

Lessons are tailored to each student. I often model examples, then work through tasks together before gradually building independence. I also provide specific feedback and strategies to help students consistently improve.

A typical lesson is 60 minutes, though this can be adjusted depending on the student’s needs and goals.

I have strong experience in NCEA English, speech competitions, and performance-based communication, and I understand what Excellence-level work looks like. My background in speech and drama allows me to support both written and spoken English at a high level.

My lessons are best suited for students in Years 7 –13, especially those looking to improve their writing, and confidence in speaking.
