About Dhruv

I’ve always had a slightly unusual relationship with English. Before I ever learned grammar from a textbook, what the present continuous tense was, or how to properly frame a sentence, I was already speaking it. I learned by watching movies over and over again, especially superhero movies (huge Marvel and DC need alert) and honestly, a lot of my early English came from listening to characters talk, copying the way they spoke, and eventually finding my own voice.
Since then, I’ve spent years figuring out what words can actually do. I’ve worked in publishing, journalism, and communications in places like Oxford University Press and Louis Vuitton. I’ve written and published my own books and research papers, taken ideas that existed only in my head and turned them into words, and spent an embarrassing amount of time debating those ideas until I got pretty good at defending them. I’ve even managed to win a few of those debates along the way.
I’ve also been on the other side of the table, staring at a blank page and wondering how on earth I’m supposed to make my thoughts sound the way they do in my head. That’s probably the biggest reason I want to teach. I know how frustrating it can be when you know you have something to say but just can’t find the right words for it.
So I’m here to help you find them. Whether you’re trying to improve your English, write something you’re genuinely proud of, prepare an SOP, fix your CV, or simply become more confident about speaking up, I want the process to feel less like a lesson and more like a conversation with someone who’s been there too.

PS: My first and favorite book to this day is Percy Jackson, and I will die on the hill that Percy Jackson can defeat Harry Potter any day

About the lesson

What’s your favorite movie?

That’s probably the first thing I’ll ask you.
Not because we’re secretly turning The Dark Knight into a grammar lesson, but because I want to know how you think, what catches your attention, what you’re curious about, and what makes you, well, you.
And then, I want to know your story. Not the version you think you’re supposed to tell me, but the one you understand for yourself. The experiences, ideas, and little details you want to put on paper and eventually share with the world.
From there, we build the class around you. Maybe we dissect an essay you’re struggling with. Maybe we turn a messy first draft into a dissertation you’re actually proud of. Maybe we tear apart your CV, rebuild your SOP, or simply spend an hour making your English sound more natural, confident, and you.
But it doesn’t stop at writing. If you’ve ever known the answer in your head but frozen when someone asked you to say it out loud, I want to help with that too. If you’ve ever stood in a classroom with everyone looking at you and suddenly forgotten every English word you know, we’ll work through that. The goal isn’t just to help you write better. It’s to help you find the confidence to speak, express yourself, and be heard. No boring lectures. No copy-paste templates. No “correct answer” to everything. Just conversations, ideas, honest feedback, and a lot of writing, with a little bit of fun along the way. Think of it less as a class, and more as having someone in your corner who knows their way around words.
And I say that because I’ve been in your shoes too. I’ve taken the walk, figured things out along the way, made mistakes, rewritten the same sentence far too many times, and now I want to help you take that walk a little more confidently:)
