About Jonathan
I teach because I genuinely enjoy helping others understand and feel confident in maths. As a structural engineer, I use maths every day to solve real-world problems, and I love showing students how powerful and useful it can be beyond the classroom. I know that maths can sometimes feel overwhelming, but with the right support and clear explanations, anyone can improve and even begin to enjoy it. My goal is to create a calm, encouraging learning environment where questions are always welcome and progress is always possible. With a solid academic background in Maths, Further Maths, and Physics, and a degree in Civil Engineering, I bring both knowledge and real-world experience to every lesson. I take my responsibility as a tutor seriously and pride myself on being reliable, prepared, and focused on each student’s individual needs. I’m here to help you grow in confidence, achieve your goals, and realise what you’re capable of. Let’s get started!

I focus on building a strong understanding of core concepts, breaking down complex problems into simple, manageable steps. My teaching style is clear, patient, and tailored to each student’s pace and learning style. I use real-world examples from engineering to show how maths applies beyond the classroom, making lessons more engaging and practical. Lessons typically last 60 minutes, but can be adjusted depending on the student's needs and attention span. I hold A-Levels in Maths, Further Maths, and Physics, and a degree in Civil Engineering. As a working structural engineer, I apply these subjects daily, which gives my students insight into how maths is used in real careers. My lessons are ideal for GCSE and A-Level students, typically aged 14–18, but I’m also happy to support adult learners or anyone looking to strengthen their maths skills.
