About Haley
My name is Haley Tylka, and it is my goal to make learning interactive, comfortable, and educational. My strength is listening to student needs and developing an individualized program of learning. I have 24 years teaching experience. I have taught all subjects K-6, 7-college English in both brick and mortar and virtual schools. I've taught overseas and stateside. I plan lessons that are also adaptable. My hobbies are reading, writing, traveling, hiking, and trying new foods. I spend a lot of my time with my family, especially with my 13 year-old soccer playing son, and my husband, cooking.

By building rapport and confidence with each student, I design English instruction for student needs. I take content and student interests to move students to the next level of their English speaking, writing, and reading. The lesson begins with a check-in activity followed by the learning goals. Vocabulary, reading, and writing instruction is modeled with I do, We do, You do. At the end, we check out with learning and questions. Students are welcome to ask questions at any time during the lesson as inquiry is a core of deep learning. I teach youngers learning how to read as well as students building reading and writing skills for primary and middle/high school level as well as students going off to college and adults who want to work on their English free talk or more professional reading and writing skills. For example, I currently work with a student who is learning vowel pairs as a younger as well as a middle school student who loves basketball and just read Kobe Bryant's Biography with me and deeply analyzed it and a student off to college in London who needs to practice free talk for her fashion and business studies.
