My Teaching method is as follow.
I start class by giving a real time example first about any topic so that student understood why this topic is important to learn, what is the connection of this subject/topic to other subjects/topic etc. and then start the topic.
Textbooks are just for reference to me, Although I cover entire syllabus, I just never go through Textbook only, I give students appropriate examples, practice problems, etc. for further understanding the topic well. The more students practice, the more confidence they will have.
