About Abigail

Hi there! Thank you for your interest in learning more about English with me!

I'm a student at the University of Iowa. I study translation, creative writing, and Spanish. When not in Iowa for college, I'm in St. Johns, Michigan. I love all sorts of reading and writing, and I'd be thrilled to share that with you! I work on the student magazines Boundless, Ink Lit Mag, and The Foundationalist. My short stories can be found in the 2021 Write Michigan Anthology and are forthcoming in The Foundationalist.

I believe lessons should be fun, so we'll incorporate your interests into lessons as we get to know one another better. If you like music, we can use that in our lessons. If you like videogames and movies, we can also include that in lessons. Whatever you like, we've got it!

About the lesson

Lessons are flexible--we can focus on whatever parts of English that suit your needs. Whether it's improving business writing, casual speaking skills, reading skills, or anything else, we can do it!

Lessons will usually begin with a 5-minute review of what we went over last time. Then, we'll spend about 45 minutes going over a new concept. In the last 10 minutes, we'll do a summary of what we just learned, as well as combine it with information from previous lessons. Everything will be interactive, based upon you using new words in context, writing example sentences, and us reading together. The more you actually use English, the faster you'll learn it!
