About Owen

I grew up in Oakville, Ontario, and learned French as a second language. Now, I live in Montréal, and live every day using French in the street, shops, and my friendships. I hope to pursue further studies in France as well. Learning a new language to fluency has unlocked an entire world for me, and hopefully it can do the same for you!

About the lesson

Whether you’re in elementary school or preparing for high school exams, I build each lesson around your level and your goals. If there’s a unit you’re working on in class or a test coming up, we can focus directly on that. What sets my lessons apart is that we learn through things you actually enjoy. Together we find French music, movies, shows, books or videos that interest you, and I give you the tools to fully understand them and turn the new vocabulary into French you can use yourself. I’m a student at McGill, where French is part of my degree, so I work every day with academic texts, advanced grammar and a range of accents. I also learned French as a second language myself, so I know which parts trip people up, and I can explain tricky points in English when that helps.
