About Katrina

I started to tutor three years ago. Right at the beginning a girl came to me who had been away from school for a whole year because of an exchange program. Her final exams were just around the corner but she lagged behind in her Latin studies for obvious reasons and had had only negative marks in the test of that school year.
We practiced and studied together and she managed to save her final exams with just one test and so she was able to graduate without further complications and keep her grades at a good level altogether!

About the lesson

I am a 22-year-old music student and my passions next to my studies include languages like English, Latin, French, Italian and Latvian, my mother tongue. They have always been a lot of fun to me and intrigued me very much.
My score in school was always very good and I continued to develop by reading books in foreign languages, watching films, and always going abroad when there was a possibility.

To me, a friendly attitude between teacher and student is important. I like to help each student find his or her individual approach to the material. My experience in teaching so far has shown that it is most efficient to track down the strengths and weaknesses of each individual and work on that basis.
I do not want to teach headless memorization, but I put emphasis on the student finding his or her own access to the subject we're studying. Accordingly, there are different ways of holding a lesson, for example a more free, relaxed way which includes day-to-day conversation to make the student feel more comfortable and at ease with the language or lessong a firmer system involving vocabulary-training and widening, assignments etc.

I'm glad if I can help gain independence and joy in mastering this language and thus developing one's ability to communicate!
