About Mary

I started nursing as a hospital-trained nurse. Then, to progress my career I obtained a Bachelor of Nursing. I was a Nurse Manager of an acute surgical unit which also had high dependency patients. My passion is teaching which is why I then started tutoring and lecturing.

About the lesson

My teaching method is that you tell me what you are having difficulty with. I then guide you to understand whatever it is and together we find a way for you to come to a conclusion that you feel comfortable with. Whether it’s a clinical question or you’re having trouble with assignments I can help you.

I had the privilege of working with Mary for 11 years. 10 years of that she was my Nurse Unit Manager and for 1 Year we worked together as Clinical Associates ( Nurse Educators). In all that time Mary was an exceptional Nurse Manager where she had leadership and financial responsibilities for a 30 bed High Dependency/Surgical ward. Such was Mary's leadership that staff turnover was virtually non-existent and our ward was known throughout the hospital as being a type of family. This was all testament to Mary who created a culture of support, inclusivity but also leading by example in modelling excellence in nursing and expecting the same of her staff.
Mary is also an excellent educator. She was responsible for the introduction and implementation of ward based nursing education for the surgical floor. This involved small group education, competency supervision and one on one nursing and patient education. In this role, she was able to utilize her extensive nursing knowledge to improve nursing care and in turn patient outcomes.
Mary is the most exceptional manager I have ever worked with. She is a fantastic communicator and educator and has an amazing capacity to bring the best out of the nurses she works with. Working with Mary made me a better nurse.
