About Max

Hi, my name is Max, an 18-year-old degree apprentice. I achieved an A* at A-level and Grade 9 GCSE Chemistry. I’ve had offers from Bath, Bristol and York universities. I love my dog Swizzle (named after the sweet), going to the gym and most of all I don’t particularly enjoy studying. I want to tutor in order to teach pupils that you don’t need to spend all your time studying to achieve the grades you want. Maintaining a good attitude and enjoying your time at school are going to do so much more for your knowledge retention than all-nighters I decided to do Biology, Chemistry and Maths at A-level. I found that mastering Chemistry made the other subjects so much more manageable. This is due to understanding biochemistry being a key part of getting top marks, and the various calculations can really raise your mathematical abilities. It took me a long time to realise that quality of study is so much more important than the amount you do, which also allows you to do all those other things that you’d rather be doing instead. Spending less of my time studying actually helped me to become a better-rounded individual, which will help you to market yourself for future prospects and next steps.

About the lesson

Comprehensive lessons focused on exam language and technique, to maximise your marks in an exam. I supply resources, sample answers and even mark your work outside of our scheduled lesson time. This is so we can get the most out of our time together, and reduce the amount of time you need to spend studying. I can provide a variety of techniques to increase focus and productivity, so you can spend more time doing the things you want to do. My lessons are led mostly by my students, to allow you to take control of your learning and highlight the aspects where you want assistance. I like to focus on trying to understand why you missed the marks in a question, as it’s often not an issue of knowledge. Understanding what the examiner wants in your answer and not providing unnecessary information is vital to not waste your exam time.
