About Ethan
I am going into my second year as a Computer Science student at the University of Leeds on track to achieve at least a 2:1. I studied Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Computer Science at A-Level at a local grammar school, achieving AAAB. I have been a tutor previously at a local children's coding centre (Code Ninjas), where I have developed my teaching methods to ensure all support is tailored to the child and teaching can progress through clear examples and explanations. I have supported children aged 6-12, including those with SEN needs, through JavaScript and C# languages. I am currently tutoring several students to build their confidence with GCSE Maths. I have an Enhanced DBS Certificate.

My teaching philosophy centres around making complex concepts accessible and enjoyable. I believe in breaking down problems into simple, manageable steps and providing clear, straightforward explanations through step-by-step examples. By conquering difficult subjects, I help students build confidence and develop a genuine interest in learning. Through A-Levels I found teaching through examples the most efficient way of retaining and learning content that would help me through exams. Learning this way of revision has become vital in my university studies - and I hope to inspire your child to take the same mentality. My lessons will typically last one hour, to ensure the child has enough time to digest information, and without it being too long to lose focus and learning to become ineffective. Before the lesson we will discuss which topics to cover, and during the lesson we will cover how to work through examples, effective learning methods and what the child can do to supplement the learning from these sessions. I have worked at a local children's programming centre for a couple of years, which involves breaking down difficult coding challenges, and explaining these Computer Science topics to the children in an exciting and understandable manner. My main priority is for your child to enjoy the learning process, as this makes it so much easier to retain and revise any subject. During term time I am only available for virtual lessons.
