About Laura

I’m a 20-year-old university student who enjoys reading, playing guitar, and going to live music gigs. I love the creativity and structure in music, and I think that appreciation for patterns and problem-solving carries over into the way I see mathematics.

I’m currently studying Advanced Science/Computer Science at the University of New South Wales, majoring in Mathematics and Physics. My passion for math began with a few exceptional teachers who built a strong foundation of understanding for me at school. They didn’t just teach methods; they helped me truly understand concepts, which meant I could approach challenging problems with confidence rather than frustration. Because of their guidance, math became something I genuinely enjoyed rather than something I simply had to do.

That experience is exactly why I want to teach math. I want to give students the same clarity, confidence, and sense of curiosity that my teachers gave me. I believe that when concepts are explained properly, math becomes like solving an engaging puzzle, challenging, but rewarding and even fun. My goal is not only to help students achieve strong academic results, but to help them build independence, resilience, and a genuine enjoyment of learning.

About the lesson

I love helping students build a strong foundation in math and develop a real understanding of the “why” behind each concept, rather than just memorizing formulas. My lessons focus on clear explanations, guided practice, and lots of problem-solving, allowing students to tackle challenging questions with confidence and independence. I make sure to cover the points that are often skimmed over in class, so students feel fully prepared for exams and assignments.

I’m flexible with lesson length, but 45–90 minutes usually works best for thorough learning. My goal is not just to improve results, but to make math more enjoyable and less intimidating. I tutor primary, high school, and HSC-level math, helping students strengthen their skills, build confidence, and develop a genuine enjoyment of learning.
