About Isla
I am a Physics tutor with more than 4 years of experience and a background in Physics with Computational Science. My focus is on using simulations and virtual labs to make thermodynamics and statistical mechanics accessible. I show students how energy transfers, entropy grows, and molecular systems behave under different conditions. These abstract topics become much easier when you can see them modelled visually. I enjoy teaching students to connect these ideas to real-world examples. Everyday processes like engines, refrigeration, and natural energy flows illustrate theory in action. I believe visual learning and problem-solving together build deep understanding. My lessons are structured but flexible, adapting to each student’s pace and style. I also train learners in computational methods that demonstrate the predictive power of physics. For me, teaching is about making the unseen visible and the complex simple. I encourage curiosity and critical thinking at every step. My goal is to support students in mastering both concepts and applications. I bring a relaxed but focused approach to teaching Physics, always tying lessons to engineering applications. I specialise in fluid dynamics, materials science, and statics and dynamics in structures. These areas are essential for engineers, and I use examples like stress in bridges or airflow in turbines to show their importance. My lessons are built on practical problem-solving rather than memorisation. Computational physics is also part of my method, giving students tools to simulate real-world behaviour. I encourage learners to think critically about how physics guides design choices. My teaching style makes abstract ideas visual, clear, and useful. I support students aiming for careers in engineering, teaching, or research. Each lesson builds confidence through structured steps and applied examples. I emphasise curiosity and encourage students to ask why things work as they do. My goal is to show that physics is not just theory but a foundation for innovation. With my guidance, students learn to apply physics creatively in real-world challenges. Together, we make physics practical and exciting for your career.
