About Selma

Hi! I'm Selma!

I am an undergraduate student at Swinburne University of Technology and am studying the Bachelor of Business with a major in Accounting and a co-major in Creative Writing & Literature.

Following the completion of by Bachelor's degree, I endeavour to immediately embark on my journey of becoming a Secondary teacher by completing a Master of Teaching.

After being asked by many to tutor privately, I have finally decided to embrace it and join the Super Prof community!

I have experience with volunteering in a primary school Melbourne's South-East as well as ongoing volunteering with the Bosnian Teacher's Association and the Bosnian VSL (Victorian School of Languages) classes, particularly in North Geelong. I also have a WWCC (Working with Children's Check).

I have a passion for languages and embrace my own culture and accept others! I am fluent in English and Bosnian (top score of VCE Bosnian - Class of 2016) and also have full-professional working capacity in Croatian, Serbian and Montenegrin. Additionally, I achieved the top study score for the Class of 2018 at Belmont High School for Italian as well as a Certificate II in Applied Languages (Italian).

Personally my journey to achieve an A+ for the end of year exam for VCE English was a long journey full of hard work. Being someone who didn't know any English until I started primary school as one of my parents were a refugee and the other a fresh immigrant, with little to no knowledge of English, I sympathise and understand the journey to understanding languages.

I started from ESL (English Second Language) in primary school and through the guidance, support and dedication of my teachers along side my consistency, I even surprised myself with my achievement not just for VCE English but with my 91.05 ATAR as well!

I am excited for this to be the beginning of my teaching journey and to share it with this community and my future students!

About the lesson

My classroom environment be it in groups or one-on-one, is one where students can feel supported and don't feel scared to approach me for guidance and advice. My environment is friendly yet professional, supportive and respective

I am a firm believer in personal growth, no matter how big or small it may seem. However, I want my student's to know something that I have learnt from experience is that no growth will happen unless we learn where we went wrong and acknowledges where they need to improve. It is one where I will encourage student's to reflect on what they did right and what they can improve on!

I'm quite flexible to tailor the lessons to my students needs. However, I like to prepare extra content to assist my students even more beforehand. For example with a VCE English student which has SAC deadlines, we work as per the curriculum at school and are working ahead of schedule.
