About Kariena
I am a native Afrikaans speaker with a deep love for my language and culture. I grew up in the Eastern and Western Cape and have always been the person my friends and family turned to for help with their Afrikaans assignments and exams prep. I hold multiple certificates in Afrikaans Eisteddfod and have spent the last year helping students from grade 1-10 build their confidence. When I'm not tutoring, you can find me enjoying a traditional braai or exploring hiking trails. My goal is to share the beauty of Afrikaans with you in a way that feels natural and fun. And preventing the language from dying out.

Goeiedag! My lessons are designed to take the intimidation out of learning Afrikaans. We focus on building a strong foundation starting with 'die' (the) and essential action words, moving quickly into conversational phrases you can actually use. For students in school, I provide structured support for exams, focusing on comprehension, creative writing, and literature. I use a mix of interactive role-play and real-world media to help you master that tricky 'g' sound and gain the confidence to speak fluently. Whether you're a complete beginner or looking to polish your skills, my goal is to make every session productive and enjoyable!
