About Abbie
I am a dedicated and reliable tutor who is passionate about helping students build confidence in their reading and writing skills. I am currently a third-year student in the teacher education stream, with experience in elementary classrooms and a strong understanding of different learning styles.
I take pride in being patient, organized, and adaptable, ensuring that each lesson is tailored to the individual needs of the student. I understand that every learner is different, and I am committed to helping each student progress at their own pace while celebrating their achievements along the way.
Having experienced learning challenges myself, I bring empathy and understanding into my teaching. I am approachable, dependable, and focused on creating a comfortable space where students can grow both academically and confidently.

As a tutor, I focus on creating a supportive and engaging environment where students feel confident to learn and ask questions. My approach is student-centered, using phonics-based instruction, guided reading, and interactive writing activities to build strong literacy skills.
A typical lesson includes a brief review, targeted skill practice, and engaging activities such as games or hands-on exercises. I adapt each session to the student’s needs and finish with a short recap to reinforce learning.
What sets me apart is both my classroom experience and my personal learning journey. Having a learning disability myself, I attended a specialized school that helped me develop strong reading and writing skills. This allows me to better understand the challenges students may face and support them with patience, empathy, and effective strategies.
These lessons are best suited for elementary students who need support in reading, writing, and phonics, especially those who benefit from a personalized and encouraging approach.
