About Bronwyn

I am a qualified Human Resource Manager, with variety of other qualifications. Also artistic and creative when it comes to building things and painting and drawing. I have 15 years experience in training individuals in fields and am excited to have an opportunity to learn new cultures and to be able to help others understand a language more clearly and be able to speak clearly.

About the lesson

I as an educator know that student engagement is the key to learning retention and having a great overall classroom experience. With changing times, education requires adaptation and evolution. Students are not as easily captivated as before by simple colorful animations in textbooks and monotonous songs to correlate with learned concepts. Crafting an environment that is holistic and effective is vital for student learning.

Not all students learn the same way, but all can be encouraged to participate actively in the classroom to build new knowledge. Creativity is vital for a classroom to be successful. As students' interests expand and diversify, so do the teaching techniques and styles. The following are some of the innovative methods I use to engage students in my class.

I believe that demonstrating and collaboration are the most effective teaching methods at the secondary school. The side benefit is the development of communication skills and teamwork. However, I have experience with all main teaching methods, including explanation, demonstration, learning by teaching, as well as some unorthodox methods, for example learning by playing. When I prepare my lesson plans, I always think carefully about that and try to apply the most suitable methods in each lesson. I always try to mix it up, so the students experience the unknown, and the lessons are not routine, or boring.
I believe the classroom is a living community and that everyone, from the principal to the students to the parents, must contribute in order to maintain a positive atmosphere. All students are individual and everyone learns in their own unique way. I use multiple methods of teaching (linguistic, visual, auditory, kinesthetic) to reach students, so that no one is left behind.
Everyone in the classroom contributes as a student, teacher, and thinker. I learn from students as much as they learn from me. One way I emphasize this philosophy in my classes is to incorporate regular feedback from students. For example, I ask students to fill out a mid-course evaluation of the class, in which they reflect on the course goals and provide feedback on whether or not the course is helping them meet these goals thus far. Students have been so insightful, providing useful information for me on what is working in class, and what I can improve upon. I believe we never stop learning, and I want my students to know we can learn from each other.
