Tutoring English for elementary and middle school students works best when it is structured, engaging, and level-appropriate. The approach should build skills gradually in reading, writing, speaking, listening, and vocabulary while keeping students motivated.
We will work with reading level, vocabulary knowledge (knowledge checks), writing ability (sentence structure, spelling, grammar), speaking confidence, and listening comprehension.
I will encourage the student to read short passages out loud, answer comprehension questions, ask them to write a few sentences about themselves to bring out confidence and establish a good rapport, and engage in short conversations.
