About Jacqui
I have been teaching Art for past 20 years to adults and young people from a wide variety of backgrounds often getting them to draw and paint when they feel they cannot. I have got many students through their first qualification. I run relaxed, fun classes where everyone enjoys them selves and learns something new. For this reason, I have very full classes and good retention. I particularly enjoy teaching drawing and painting, watercolours and my students often display their work in exhibitions. I also teach ceramics. I worked throughout Wakefield with some of the most deprived Students, teaching Art and mixed crafts, in Housing Associations, Homes for Elderly and Students with learning difficulties, a lot of my work is Family Learning going in to schools and teaching Parents and children together or working in community venues and play schemes.
I have delivered a wide variety of programmes as needs and opportunities have changed. Initially my role focussed on craft teaching to adult learners. I then taught painting and drawing, watercolours and acrylics for a number of years. More recently, I have worked in two different teams simultaneously, one working in schools and children’s centres with parents and their children doing drawing and painting and crafts, (Family Learning) whilst in the other team (Creative Studies) I have continued to teach drawing and watercolours to adults. I have designed courses from small individual taster sessions to L3 accredited awards. My work has involved planning my own curriculum, adapting this to meet the needs of a particular group of learners, and working with others to deliver an agreed schedule of teaching. Currently I work with City and Guilds accredited courses, (entry level to level 2) whilst in the past I have worked up to Level 3 (and I teach Entry 3 NOCN Art, Mixed Crafts and Ceramics.
Amongst my students have been a number with disabilities and SEN physical, mental health problems or learning difficulties including autism often I need to work very closely with the support workers and voluntary staff to enable them to get the best from the students .This has been challenging and satisfying work.

I teach a very relaxed fun and friendly class any age and ability. I can teach one to one or small groups.
By the end of the course learners will be able to:
• Use a range of drawing and painting media to Produce low relief mixed Media imagery
• Research and collect resource materials
• Explore design principals, colour, line, shape, texture and form
• Produce a portfolio of ideas, designs, experiments, and completed drawings.
• Produce a presentation sketchbook consisting of drawings/ink Acrylics and watercolours on a given theme.
