About Derrick
As a tutor, I stick to a basic method: learn what the student needs, and accommodate accordingly. I excel at teaching visually, auditorily, and through giving mini-projects for students who prefer to learn by doing.
I know from experience that both enthusiasm and knowledge come from the teacher, and I hope to instill those values in the people I tutor. Any subject, no matter how tedious, can become fun if properly approached.
I've tutored several clients in the past on various subjects, and would love the opportunity to tutor more.

Whether you like or dislike your topic of study, I can help. I loved computer programming, but did terribly until I had the right professor who taught me to really love the topic.
Generally, lessons begin with me asking about how you prefer to learn. After this, we discuss the topic that you need help with. Finally, we start learning about the topic with your preferred method.
As a tutor, I generally have a laid back personality and will go at whichever pace you feel comfortable with. I'll definitely push you to excel with optional homework, but I won't ever pressure you, as I usually procrastinate until 5 minutes before the due date.
I can tutor computer programming up to sophomore level, Chinese up to freshman level, and English up to freshman level.
