About Theo
I am a piano teacher from Eastbourne with over a decade of experience in a variety of music-related subjects.
I enjoy turning popular songs into sheet music for students to learn, often teaching them the process of how to create their own sheet music and allowing them to creatively make decisions about the music they want to learn to play and write.
I started my professional music journey in college, where I learned what was required to become a live performer and achieved a diploma in guitar performance. This experience taught me what it was like to be gigging regularly, how to work with other musicians and most importantly, how to perform live to a professional level.
I then decided to delve into the recording aspect of music at university where I achieved a BA (Hons) in music production. This gave me a much wider understanding of composition and self-expression through music, which is a skill I am eager to share with students.
After university, I decided to start teaching family members how to play the piano as a hobby. Realising how much I enjoyed it, I began working towards a Grade 8 Piano qualification in order to teach piano professionally and have confidence with whatever genre or skill level I teach.
Since receiving my Grade 8 qualification, I have started teaching a handful of students professionally. I have enjoyed the challenge of tailoring my lessons around their unique characters and learning styles and have found their progression very rewarding.

I base my lessons around the learning style of the student I'm teaching. I have often turned students' favourite songs into sheet music for them, adapting it to fit their grade level.
I can provide structured guidance in classical piano, technique, theory and exam preparation. However, I also place a strong emphasis on creativity through composition and musical understanding, especially if that's what is more suited to the student's goals.
Lesson length: 30mins-1hr
Rate: £15 for 30-minute lessons
