I'm sure we are all aware of our position as Maaori in regards to today's current government. Reclaiming our reo is a small yet immensely impactful way to push back and let the country know that te ao Maaori is very much here to stay.

My name is Makareta! I have taught people from yr 7 rangatahi in high school, to our older generations reclaiming their reo through haapori puna and reo classes. Lessons can be 90-120 mins, online or in person depending.
My method of teaching combines learning the language with learning the culture itself as Maaori is a very poetic language layered with meaning. Lessons are not just boring sit down and write sessions! There are multiple keemu and activities that we will learn and use to develop your reo skills as proficiently as possible. You will need to speak! A language unspoken is a language unknown e hoa maa!
