About Amandus

Hello, my name is Amandus, and I am a TEFL-certified English tutor from South Africa. I am passionate about helping students improve their English in a supportive and encouraging environment where they feel comfortable learning and growing at their own pace.

My teaching style focuses on clear communication, patience, and building confidence. I believe that students learn best when lessons are structured but relaxed, allowing them to practice speaking, ask questions, and develop real understanding. I adapt my lessons to each student’s goals and learning level, whether they want to improve conversation skills, grammar, pronunciation, or everyday English communication.

Although my teaching experience has been gained mainly through helping others learn in practical, one-on-one settings, this has helped me develop strong skills in explaining concepts clearly and guiding learners step by step. My TEFL training has further strengthened my ability to create effective and engaging lessons.

I am fluent in English and Afrikaans and enjoy working with students from different backgrounds. My goal is to help learners feel more confident using English in real-life situations while making the learning process enjoyable and motivating.

About the lesson

My approach to private tutoring is centered around patience, clarity, and building confidence. I believe students learn best in a supportive environment where they feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. My teaching style focuses on clear explanations, step-by-step guidance, and practical language use that students can apply in real-life situations.

I use a communicative teaching methodology, which means lessons are interactive and focused on speaking, listening, and understanding rather than memorization alone. I adapt my lessons to each student’s learning style and goals, making sure progress feels natural and achievable. What makes me unique as a teacher is my calm and supportive approach, combined with a strong focus on helping students gain confidence while improving accuracy.

I am fluent in English and Afrikaans, and I teach primarily in English while using clear explanations that help learners understand concepts easily.

In a typical lesson, students can expect conversation practice, pronunciation support, vocabulary building, grammar guidance, and practical exercises tailored to their level. Lessons are structured but relaxed, allowing students to learn at a comfortable pace.

My lessons are aimed at beginner to intermediate learners, as well as students who want to improve conversation skills, confidence, and everyday English communication. I welcome learners of different ages who are motivated to improve step by step in a positive and encouraging environment.
