About Miss

Hello everyone! I'm Zilpah, and I’m excited to be part of this teaching community! I have a passion for helping others learn English, whether it’s through grammar, vocabulary, or conversation practice. I believe that learning a new language opens doors to new cultures and opportunities, and I love seeing students grow in their confidence and skills. I’ve been teaching English for a few months, and I’m always eager to discover new methods and techniques that make learning both effective and enjoyable. My approach is interactive and tailored to each student's individual needs, helping them improve at their own pace. About the lesson

I have over two years of experience teaching English to students of various ages and proficiency levels, from beginners to advanced learners. Throughout my career, I’ve taught in-person, providing one-on-one tutoring as well as group lessons. My experience spans a range of contexts, including: General English: Covering all four key language skills (reading, writing, speaking, and listening) to improve overall fluency. Exam Preparation: Coaching students for exams in the local school. Conversational English: Focusing on real-life communication, idioms, and cultural nuances. I hold the following certifications that validate my skills and knowledge in teaching English as a second language: TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) Through this certification, I gained a solid grounding in grammar, lesson planning, and classroom management. I hold a Business degree in Tours and Travel Operations management from Kisii University, where I studied. Additionally, I have pursued continuous professional development, attending workshops, webinars, and conferences to keep myself up to date with relevant programs. My teaching methodology is student-centered, focusing on meeting individual needs while creating an engaging and supportive learning environment. I aim to develop students’ skills through a balanced approach that integrates: 1. Communicative Language Teaching (CLT): I prioritize real-life communication, encouraging students to practice English in context through conversations, role-plays, and debates. 2. Task-Based Learning (TBL): Lessons are built around tasks that simulate real-world situations, allowing students to apply language in practical scenarios. 3. Grammar and Vocabulary in Context: Instead of focusing on isolated grammar drills, I introduce grammar and vocabulary within meaningful contexts to enhance retention and practical use. 4. Flipped Classroom Approach: I often provide learning materials for students to explore at home (like videos or articles), then use class time to practice and discuss the content, making our lessons more interactive. 5. Technology Integration: I incorporate digital tools, such as language apps, interactive quizzes, and online platforms, to make learning more dynamic and accessible. 6. Pronunciation and Accent Reduction: I focus on clear communication, helping students reduce their accent or improve their pronunciation based on their specific needs. I have a broad range of expertise in English language instruction, including: Grammar: From basic sentence structure to advanced topics like conditionals, phrasal verbs, and passive voice. Writing Skills: Helping students improve their academic writing, business communication, and creative writing skills. Speaking Skills: Working on fluency, pronunciation, intonation, and accent reduction. Listening and Reading Comprehension: Teaching strategies for improving understanding, speed, and accuracy. Exam Preparation: In-depth coaching for standardized tests. I am passionate about helping students achieve their language goals and create personalized, goal-oriented learning plans to ensure success. I look forward to the opportunity to work with learners from all around the world, adapting my approach to their unique learning styles and needs.
