Hello and welcome! My name is Anita Mayes, and I am a dedicated TEFL-certified teacher with a genuine passion for helping students build confidence, fluency, and accuracy in English. My approach to private tutoring is student-centred, practical, and encouraging. I use a communicative and adaptive methodology that focuses on building confidence, improving accuracy, and developing real-world language skills. What makes me unique as a teacher is my ability to personalise each lesson to match the student’s goals, learning style, and pace, while creating a warm, supportive environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes and growing from them.
I am proficient in English and specialise in teaching it as a foreign language. I also have experience working with learners from diverse linguistic backgrounds and adapt my explanations to ensure clarity and accessibility for all students.
A typical lesson with me includes a structured warm-up, targeted skill practice (speaking, listening, reading, or writing), guided exercises, and practical application through conversation, role-play, or real-life scenarios. I provide constructive feedback, clear explanations, and strategies students can immediately apply outside the lesson.
My lessons are aimed at beginner to intermediate learners, as well as professionals seeking to improve their conversational skills, business communication, pronunciation, and overall fluency. I also support exam preparation and learners who need English for travel, work, or relocation.
