Neesha pulled a short passage from Virginia Woolf’s Mrs Dalloway and walked them through it line by line, showing how free indirect discourse shifts the reader’s perspective without ever announcing itself. She had the student color-code where “thought,” “image,” and “movement” occurred, and then map that to a simple thesis. You could see the light switch on. The student went from “I don’t get it” to a clear, confident argument in twenty minutes, and produced what I think was one of their best essays that week.
