About Robert

I’m Robert, and I absolutely love math. I attended LeTourneau University and graduated summa cum laude, 3.86 GPA, with a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies (Education). As a high school geometry teacher, I’ve discovered the best way to engage students is to tie new concepts to prior knowledge and guide them in a group discussion. From there, I give the students the opportunity to use their new knowledge to solve increasingly more challenging problems. This allows me to figure out which students need extra support or an extra challenge. Finally, I conclude the lesson by summarizing the content, breaking down student work, and asking probing questions to check for understanding. This is how I would approach tutoring math. I’m a first-year advanced geometry high school teacher with close to a year experience in math tutoring. I’m a Texas teacher that is certified to teach all levels of math from K to 12th grade. I specialize in geometry, algebra 1, and algebra 2. I teach advanced geometry to 9th and 10th graders in a classroom setting and have time to work with struggling students one on one. I also tutor students after school, tailoring the content to their learning style to ensure they fully understand the material. I want to use my love for math, endless patience, and teaching experience to help students with their math challenges. About the lesson

In mathematics, it’s important to help students think through the process of the problem they are working on rather than just provide an answer. I allow the student to show me how they approach the problem so I get insight into their thinking and where they get stuck. From there, we will walk through the challenging parts to help the student discover how to solve the problems they are working on. This approach helps the student develop the skills he or she needs in order to be successful in their class.
