About Clara
Do you remember that kid in your class who used to have their notebook scribbled with English song lyrics and dreamed about travelling the world? Well, now they've become an English tutor!
Yes, this is me. I'm Clara, and I am an BA English graduate and CELTA-qualified English teacher. I have experience teaching languages to various age groups as well as teaching ESOL and Academic English to different nationalities and education backgrounds. In fact, I was an English learner myself, having studied it in school back in my home country, and then at university. This means that, unlike other teachers you might find, I possess the awareness of the difficulties that learning English as a foreign language entails. I know the challenges, and I have tried and tested techniques to overcome them. But not only do I have the empathy and awareness of language learning; you can also be sure that you will gain a qualified tutor, who has studied English at university level and vast experience in the classroom.
English was an invaluable key that opened many doors in my life: new jobs, new places to travel, a whole new country to live in, new opportunities, new friends. I am forever thankful for all the things I could do in my life thanks to my English language skills, and now it's my passion to transmit that knowledge to my students!

Having worked in further and higher education for most of my teaching career (4+ years experience), you can be sure you will gain a tutor who is well-experienced teaching a wide variety of backgrounds.
My key teaching philosophy is that the English language is alive, and it leads a very exciting life! This is why, apart from using textbooks and tried-and-tested materials, I love incorporating up-to-date exciting resources in my lessons. I retrieve my content from the news, films, shows, social media, and overall, I strive to find content that interests you. Being a global language, I can guarantee I can find something that excites you, and that is the most important thing for me. Above all, I want you to enjoy your language-learning journey, because I feel you'll learn better if you're enjoying what you're learning.
Another thing we will discuss in our first lesson is your experience learning English and other languages as well as your preferred styles. Everyone has a way of learning that works for them, and it's most important for me to find out which one suits you. And if you still don't know, then this is our chance to find out! Whether you love traditional, structured content or are seeking broad discussions in English, I am happy to adapt to your learning needs. The most important thing for me is that you feel comfortable asking questions and making lots of mistakes; that's the way to learn!
