About Dyshea
My name is Dyshea, and I'm excited to introduce myself as your soon-to-be child's English tutor. I began my teaching journey in 2020 in the vibrant classrooms of New York City's public schools, where I had the privilege of working with diverse groups of students from various backgrounds. Born and raised in New York, I have always been passionate about education and the transformative power it holds. Last year, I made the exciting move to Virginia, where I continue to pursue my passion for teaching and learning.

As an English tutor, I believe in tailoring my approach to meet the individual needs and learning styles of each student. Here's how I approach tutoring sessions: A typical lesson plan begins with a brief review of previous concepts to ensure understanding before moving on to new material. I then introduce the day's topic using real-life examples and relatable contexts to make the content more accessible. Throughout the lesson, I provide ample opportunities for student participation, feedback, and reflection. We may engage in reading comprehension exercises, writing prompts, grammar drills, vocabulary expansion activities, or literary analysis discussions, depending on the student's needs and goals. I currently hold a Master's degree in Education.
