About Nancy
Hi, I’m Nancy — Your New Science & English Tutor! I’m a third-year Health Science student at the University of Ottawa, and I’m passionate about helping students actually understand what they’re learning — not just memorize it for a test. I specialize in tutoring English, Biology, Chemistry, and General Science for middle school and high school students (Grades 6–12). Whether you’re struggling with writing essays, tackling chemical equations, or preparing for exams, I’m here to support you every step of the way. As a third-year Health Science student at the University of Ottawa, I blend academic knowledge with empathy and patience to help students truly understand the material—not just memorize it. My goal is to build confidence, critical thinking, and lasting skills in every session.
Teaching Methodology & Techniques
I adapt every lesson to suit the student's unique learning style:
Visual learners: diagrams, videos, flowcharts
Auditory learners: explanations, analogies, verbal quizzing
Kinesthetic learners: interactive activities and practice problems
I break down complex topics (like chemistry reactions or essay writing structure) into simple, step-by-step explanations, followed by guided practice and real-time feedback.
A Typical Lesson Plan Looks Like This:
Warm-up/Review (5–10 mins): Quick recap of last lesson or previous school content
New Topic Introduction (15–20 mins): Teach main concepts with clear, simple breakdowns
Guided Practice (15 mins): Work through examples together
Independent Practice (10–15 mins): Student attempts problems/writing with my support
Wrap-Up (5 mins): Recap key points, assign optional practice or study tips
