About Timothy

- What kind of experience do you have? I began my career as an actor in 1979 at Southwold summer theatre, a weekly repertory theatre company. I went on to appear in many West End productions through the years, notably Macbeth at The Old Vic, Man and Superman at The Theatre Royal Haymarket. Following a two year run in Jeffrey Bernard is Unwell at The Apollo, I went on to form my own production company. My narration work includes A Christmas Carol and The Signalman by Charles Dickens, Three Men in a Boat by Jerome K Jerome, short stories by Stacy Aumonier and Saki as well as most recently My Italian Bulldozer by Alexander McCall Smith. I have worked extensively in the City as a coach and public speaker for such organisations as The Worshipful Company of Chartered Surveyors, Microrent plc and Smith Williamson. I provide private tutorials on voice production, elocution and presentation skills to a wide range of clients, from actors to executives. - Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate? No. - Where and with whom did you train? I trained at LAMDA, shortly before being nominated for most promising newcomer in the West End Theatre awards.

About the lesson

I offer classes to individuals and small groups. My tuition will be of interest to people who want to improve their grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation and confidence. - Which subject(s) do you teach? I offer classes in elocution, accent reduction, vocal coaching, public speaking and acting. I believe our voice is an instrument and in today's world communication, confidence and conversation have been undermined; take back your individuality through your voice and speak your best. - How much do you charge? A standard lesson, in person or via Zoom will be charged at £50. Discounts are available for bookings of six classes or more. - Where do you teach? Classes are offered at my home in Notting Hill. - When are you available? Please contact me to discuss availability. - Which ages and levels do you teach? All ages and abilities. - Describe your arrangements for online tutoring. Online tutoring is available via Skype.

Perfect! I have been having weekly lessons with Timothy for a few months now. Timothy's method is, without question, unconventional but remarkably effective. At first, his approach can feel a bit disorienting, but in the long run, it works.

This method might not suit everyone, especially those who prefer a more conventional style. However, for students willing to adapt, it builds a much deeper and more lasting understanding. Overall, while the method is certainly “particular,” I believe it is undeniably efficient. Thank you Timothy!

Perfect! When I was searching for a coach, the idea was to get enrolled for a couple of sessions only. Now, I can't tell when I am going to decide to stop, for the simple reason that I have been enjoying the sessions with Tim. Not just fun, but in every session I am learning new things. Sometimes things which I would have never discovered without Tim. What will keep learning with with Tim is his effort and plan to push me reach perfection. And finally, his kindness and the advice he provides are valuable.
Tim's strengths are his willingness to make you speak not just like a native speaker but as a professional too and one can see that his ultimate goal is getting to perfection through different methods combining the right accent, variation in voice, vocabulary, poetry, sight reading etc.

Tim, I am extremely happy and thanks a lot.

Would I recommend Tim? Oh definitely yes.

With him you are in safe hands. He never worries about the clock and indefatigably presses on well past your slotted time.
