About Srikar

Hi! My name is Srikar, and I’m an incoming medical student at a top medical university. I am a recent graduate of UCLA with a Psychobiology BS degree, where I’ve maintained a 4.0 GPA across a range of challenging subjects, including general chemistry, organic chemistry, biology, biochemistry, math, and physics. My academic journey has been marked by success, having earned As in all my courses, as well as scoring 5s on the AP exams in AP Chemistry, AP Biology, AP Calculus AB/BC, and AP Physics. Additionally, I achieved a 35 on the ACT and ranked in the 97th percentile on the MCAT. With over eight years of tutoring experience, I’ve worked with more than 140 clients, helping them excel in subjects like chemistry, biology, math, physics, the ACT, and MCAT. I have taught all age levels from 5 - 40. My approach focuses on simplifying complex concepts, fostering understanding, and building confidence. In addition to one-on-one tutoring, I have developed comprehensive AP Chemistry and AP Biology curricula from scratch for a nonprofit, tailoring them to meet the needs of students aiming for top scores. Beyond tutoring, I am also actively involved in cancer research at UCLA and UCSF, focusing on molecular biology and cancer pathways. As a tutor, my approach centers around clarity, strategy, and adaptability. I believe that the best learning happens when complex material is made approachable, so I break down difficult topics into digestible parts and connect them to real-world applications or analogies that resonate with each student. I focus on building a strong conceptual foundation first, then layer in problem-solving strategies and test-taking techniques.

A typical lesson with me starts by identifying the student's specific goals—whether it’s mastering a challenging unit, preparing for an exam, or shoring up gaps in foundational knowledge. I tailor each session accordingly: reviewing key content, walking through practice problems step-by-step, and encouraging active recall and spaced repetition to ensure retention. I also emphasize metacognitive skills—helping students understand how they learn best so they can study more efficiently on their own.

What sets me apart as a tutor is the combination of my academic track record, breadth of teaching experience, and ability to connect with students of all backgrounds and ages. Having tutored everyone from elementary school students to working professionals returning to school, I’ve developed the intuition to meet students where they are, adjust my teaching style on the fly, and provide encouragement and structure at every step.
