About Tessa
I'm Tessa, a 23 year old psychology graduate from the university of York. I love reading, playing the piano and dogs and I can't wait to meet you.
I am currently training to be a primary school teacher and am due to complete my teacher training in summer 2023. I have worked in a variety of teaching, childcare and mentoring settings over the past 5 years and I want to try and make learning fun and accessible to all pupils. I try to bring a sense of fun, positivity and enthusiasm to all lessons whilst allowing the students I teach to be involved in their learning by focusing lessons directly to your interests as well as your strengths and weaknesses.

My lessons are tailored towards you. I have one years experience working with pupils one to one in a mainstream primary school. Therefore, I know how to adapt the curriculum and specific topics to individuals to ensure that all of my students can achieve their absolute best.
I am currently a trainee primary school teacher on placement in a year 5 class and I have previously worked with primary school children in years 2, 3 and 4.
I also have experience of mentoring children aged 11-14 on an individual basis. This mentoring has focused on providing children with a safe space to talk, improve their confidence and explore things that interest them.
I am able to teach English to primary school and secondary school pupils up to GCSE. Lessons may include supporting children with reading and comprehension, handwriting or creative writing as well as structuring, planning and writing essays, short stories or factual reports.
