  • 1) When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

I fell in love with Mathematics during school when I realized it is all about logic rather than just memorizing facts. This interest grew so strong that I completed my MPhil in Mathematics. I started private tutoring during university when I helped a friend understand a difficult topic. Seeing them finally understand it felt amazing. I realized that personal, one-on-one teaching is the best way to help students learn at their own pace.
  • Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

I teach basic math up to advanced A/AS-Level and university math. I absolutely love teaching topics like Calculus, Algebra, and Trigonometry because they require step-by-step problem-solving. Breaking down a long equation into simple steps is my favorite part. On the other hand, long chapters with repetitive statistical tables can be a bit dry, but I try to use real-life examples to make them interesting for my students.
  • Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

Yes, one of my university professors inspired me a lot. They did not expect us to work like robots. Instead, they praised us whenever we tried a creative way to solve a math problem, even if our method was long. They taught me that a good teacher builds a student's thinking skills instead of just showing them shortcuts. I bring that same patient and encouraging energy to all my Superprof classes.
  • What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

A good math tutor needs three main qualities:

    * Patience: Understanding that math can look like a completely foreign language to a struggling student.
    * Flexibility: Being ready to change the explanation style instantly if the student looks confused.
    * Confidence Boosting: Helping students overcome the fear of making mistakes, because mistakes are how we learn.
  • 5) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

During my MPhil studies, I was stuck on a difficult math problem for days. Nothing was working. Finally, I stopped overcomplicating it and looked at the very basic rules of the topic. The solution was right there. I now share this story with my A-Level students to teach them a major lesson: when a question looks huge and scary, break it down to the simplest basics.
  • 6) What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

The biggest challenge is not the math itself, but the "math fear" that many students have. Many students join my first class already believing they are bad at math. Breaking that mental block, rebuilding their confidence, and showing them that they can do it is a challenge—but it is the most rewarding part of my work.
  • 7) Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

My true passion is simplification. I love taking scary, complicated math topics and explaining them in a way that anyone can understand. Mathematics is a beautiful, structured language. Seeing a student go from feeling stressed about a problem to confidently solving it by themselves is what makes me love teaching every single day.
  • 8) What makes you a Superprof (besides answering these interview questions :-P) ?

What makes me a Superprof is that I combine a high-level qualification (MPhil in Math) with a simple, friendly teaching style. I don't just lecture; I coach my students. I help them understand the core concepts, guide them through A-Level paper patterns, and teach them exactly how to answer exam questions to score top grades.
