About Lila
With over seven years of experience teaching piano, I specialize in helping students of all ages develop both technical skills and artistic expression. I have guided beginners, intermediate, and advanced learners through carefully structured lessons that balance technique, theory, and performance practice. My academic background in music education allows me to combine proven pedagogical methods with creative, student-focused approaches that keep learning enjoyable and meaningful. I focus on building strong fundamentals, including proper hand positioning, finger strength, and scale practice, while ensuring that students also develop musicality and expressiveness. I incorporate repertoire from classical, contemporary, jazz, and popular music to cater to each student’s interests, creating lessons that are motivating and relevant. I enjoy helping students interpret music with emotion, phrasing, and dynamic awareness, allowing them to play with both skill and heart. Beyond technical skill, I emphasize sight-reading, rhythm, and ear training to ensure students become versatile and confident musicians. I provide personalized guidance for practicing effectively, memorizing pieces, and preparing for recitals or exams. Watching students progress from tentative first notes to confident, fluid performances is one of the most rewarding aspects of teaching piano. My piano lessons are designed to provide a comprehensive and engaging learning experience. Each session begins with warm-ups that focus on technique, dexterity, and hand coordination, gradually moving into exercises that develop scales, chords, and arpeggios. Lessons are highly interactive, allowing students to apply technical skills immediately to musical pieces they enjoy.
I integrate music theory, sight-reading, and ear training into every lesson to help students understand the structure of music and become independent learners. For beginners, I focus on building strong foundational skills while keeping lessons fun through simple, engaging songs. Intermediate and advanced students work on more complex pieces, improvisation, and expressive interpretation to refine their musical identity.
My methodology also includes performance preparation, teaching students to approach recitals and exams with confidence. I provide detailed feedback, practice strategies, and tips to manage nerves and play with musicality. Additionally, I incorporate creativity exercises such as composition and improvisation, which enhance understanding and enjoyment of music.
