About Jaylyn
I began tutoring during my time at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill! Upon graduation, I began teaching through Teach For America and I have been an educator ever since. I have taught 5th, 6th, 7th, 11th, and 12th grade. I also did a short stint of adult education doing onboarding training and curriculum development. I have studied the science of learning extensively to better understand how humans commit information to long term memory. I aim to ensure whatever we learn together truly sticks!

Our first session will cover an appraisal of student learning goals and current understanding. We’ll build rapport, laugh, and develop a good sense of current learning and study habits. From there, I frame my lessons and work sessions around student need! If the student needs a prepared series on a variety of topics, then that’s what our sessions will be. If the student needs to simply bring work or new topics to each session for us to tackle, then that’s what our sessions will be. I always intend to ensure my student leaves their sessions with me feeling empowered and confident and equipped with independent study tips!
