About Siobhan
I have been tutoring for over 20 years, both in person and online. I have had a lot of time to adjust my approach and learn how students learn. The most important thing for me as a tutor is not to teach them how the system wants them to learn, but how the student needs to learn to understand.
I also work as a substitute teacher in the classroom and feel that the education system has sometimes failed my students by not paying attention to their specific needs, which is why I fell in love with tutoring.
In my experience, the 1-1 and the focused and customized support and guidance has made all the difference to my kids throughout the years. I stand by tutoring and would love to reach more kids in need by providing my services online.

First 5 min: Update and review (how was school, the class, the lesson, did we understand it, do we have any homework or any upcoming tests?)
If homework, we work on that together. Mostly, I see what my student can do on their own, where they feel confident and where they struggle more. If needed, I will pause homework to go over some fundamental material, so they’re equipped to do the rest of the homework on their own.
If no homework, I provide practice problems based on what they’re currently working on in class, and I do my assessment from there. This ensures they understand the current material and prepares them for any upcoming tests.
Ultimate Goal: Make sure my student understands the material, build confidence, and ensure they can handle answering the questions on their own.
