About Margot

I am an international resident in London who spent five years studying at Durham University. During this time I completed my BA in English Literature at a 2.1, before pursuing my MA in Environmental Humanities, where I achieved a first on my dissertation. I have studied a range of literary fields, including poetry, the classics, dramatic and theatrical works, and the novel spanning from its first inception in English (Moll Flanders, published in 1722) to contemporary writers of many backgrounds (with modules in Postcolonial Literature, English Romantic, and American Fiction). Additionally, I have taken courses in Creative Nonfiction and Creative Fiction, being awarded a first in both.

I am deeply passionate about the Humanities and have a strong love for literature and language, and I hope to bring that love to my students! My goal is to help those I work with find the same enjoyment and richness in reading and writing, two of the most deeply rewarding areas that one can pursue.

About the lesson

I am well-versed in English Language and Literature, and would love to help prospective students achieve their goals - whether preparing for exams, working on essays, or even writing a dissertation!

I will meet with my students to first assess their needs and current capabilities, where we will set achievable yet ambitious goals for our progress together. I will then plan weekly lessons to challenge and strengthen a range of reading and writing skills, from entry-level text comprehension skills to high-level critical analysis.

I am also able to aid in writing essays at all ranges, providing editing and revision skills to my students as needed. I will push you to do your best!

I have received two degrees in the Humanities from Durham University, developing high-level skills in English Language and Literature, achieving a first on my MA Dissertation. Before University, I achieved top marks in my AP (Advanced Placement) American Exams (equivalent to UK A Levels) - 5 in English Language, Literature, Art History, European History, and Environmental Science.
