About Hussein
I am a recent A-level graduate and Imperial College London Medicine offer holder, having successfully achieved my offer. I achieved a UCAT score of 2360 Band 2, including 900 in Quantitative Reasoning, 750 in Decision Making and 710 in Verbal Reasoning.
Having recently gone through the medical application process myself, I understand how challenging and unfamiliar the UCAT can initially seem. I know the importance of developing effective strategies, managing time under pressure and understanding how to approach different question types efficiently. This experience motivated me to start tutoring and help other students approach the UCAT with greater confidence.
My aim is not simply to teach students tricks for individual questions, but to help them develop a systematic approach that they can apply independently. I focus particularly on identifying weaknesses, analysing mistakes and developing strategies that suit each student's strengths and areas for improvement.
As I have only recently completed the UCAT myself, I can offer a perspective that is particularly relevant to current applicants. I remember the challenges of preparing for the test and can share the approaches that helped me improve my performance. Whether you are just beginning your preparation or looking to refine your technique, I will tailor sessions to your individual needs and goals.

My UCAT teaching approach is focused on building efficient strategies, improving accuracy and developing confidence under time pressure. Rather than simply working through large numbers of questions, I focus on understanding why mistakes are made and helping students develop a clear approach that they can apply independently.
At the beginning of tutoring, I aim to establish the student's current strengths and weaknesses. This allows lessons to be tailored to the areas where they will have the greatest impact. We can work on individual question types, timing, accuracy, exam strategy or a combination of these depending on the student's needs and stage of preparation.
A typical lesson will begin with a short review of previous work and any questions or difficulties the student has encountered. We will then focus on a particular skill or question type, where I will demonstrate an effective approach before working through examples together. The student will then attempt questions independently, with feedback and discussion throughout. Towards the end of the lesson, we will review mistakes and identify specific actions for further practice.
I place particular emphasis on Quantitative Reasoning and Decision Making, having achieved scores of 900 and 750 respectively in these sections. However, I can also help students develop their approach to Verbal Reasoning and overall UCAT strategy.
I also believe that UCAT preparation should be personalised. Different students struggle with different aspects of the test, so I will adapt the pace, question selection and strategies to suit the individual rather than following a fixed programme.
Between lessons, I can recommend targeted practice based on the student's weaknesses and help them track their progress. The ultimate aim is for students to become increasingly independent, so that by test day they have a reliable strategy, understand their own strengths and weaknesses, and can approach the UCAT with confidence.
