I am a native English speaker from Ireland with a Professional Degree in Primary Education and a BA in English and History. My background in academia and professional teaching allows me to provide a structured, reliable, and high-standard learning environment for all my students.
I specialize in advanced fluency and exam preparation, specifically for IELTS (Academic and General) and Cambridge English Qualifications (B2 First, C1 Advanced). About My Approach
My tutoring philosophy is rooted in a student-led, calm, and grounded environment. I don’t believe in "over-the-top" or performative teaching; instead, I focus on authentic, real-world communication. I use a scaffolded inquiry-based method, where I act as a facilitator rather than a lecturer. This means I provide the tools and structural feedback you need while giving you the space (70-80% of the talking time) to build genuine confidence. We will focus on "active output" - discussing articles, analyzing historical contexts, or practicing specific exam tasks - so that every minute of our lesson is practical.
What to Expect in a Lesson
A typical lesson lasts 50 to 60 minutes, which allows enough time for a brief check-in, targeted skill practice, and constructive feedback.
The First 10 Minutes: We set a clear goal for the session based on your immediate needs.
The Core Session: We engage with authentic materials (literature, news, or exam papers).
The Final 5 Minutes: A calm wrap-up where I provide a log of your progress, noting specific areas of the curriculum, grammar or vocabulary to focus on before our next meeting.
