About Abdul Rahman

I’m originally from the north of England and now study Civil Engineering at UCL, where I hold a scholarship from the Institution of Civil Engineers. I was homeschooled until I was 15, so I know first-hand that students learn in different ways and at different speeds, and that shapes how I teach.

Outside my degree I’ve done internships in finance, which gives me real-world examples that bring Economics to life. I was Head Boy at school, I coach young footballers, and I play cricket competitively. I also train in jiu-jitsu and hold a black belt in taekwondo. I speak English, Arabic and Urdu, which helps me connect with a wide range of families.

I love seeing a student go from “I don’t get it” to explaining it back to me, and that’s what I aim for in every lesson.

About the lesson

I’m a second-year Civil Engineering student at UCL, and I achieved an A* in Economics and an A in both Physics and Maths at A-level, with the top grade in my school’s Economics and Physics cohorts. I tutor GCSE and A-level students in all three subjects.

Every lesson is built around the student. In the first session I find out where they’re losing marks, whether that’s a weak topic, exam technique or confidence, and then we work on exactly that. I explain ideas step by step using real examples, then move on to past paper questions so students learn how examiners want answers written. I also set short practice tasks between lessons and keep parents updated on progress.

I’ve coached football for over 150 primary school children, so I’m patient and know how to keep young people engaged. Whether your child needs to catch up, push for a top grade or prepare for mocks, I’ll give them a clear plan and the confidence to follow it. Lessons are available online or in person in London.
