About Oliver
I am a dedicated and engaging tutor with several years’ experience teaching students from age 10 to 18. Currently studying 4th year medicine at University College London, I tutor GCSE and A-Level Science, as well as helping students prepare for university admissions and interviews.
Having successfully assisted many students to achieve or surpass their targets, my supportive and encouraging approach has a proven track record as an effective method for helping students reach their full potential. Rather than rote learning mark schemes, I find it is most helpful to revisit key content with students, completely solidifying understanding before attempting practice assessment material. I believe it is this adaptable nature that marks me out as a competent and well-regarded tutor.
My sixth-form teachers showed me the benefit of learning real-world examples of syllabus content, which helps to cement concepts and ideas: essential for achieving top marks in the more difficult exam questions. The vast majority of students simply require that extra bit of confidence that comes from a 1-to-1 environment, where they are not afraid to ask “stupid” questions. I am firmly of the opinion that a gentle reminder that it not the student’s fault they do not understand a topic can go a very long way.
At A Level I studied Chemistry (A), Biology (A) and Spanish (A) and achieved 11 A*s at GCSE including English, Maths, Triple Science, History, Geography, Spanish, French and Music.
In my spare time I am an avid cyclist and skier, and love spending as much time outdoors as possible. I recently returned from a year’s interruption of studies working in Whistler, British Colombia.
