About Calvin
I have a flawless academic record as an honors undergraduate molecular biology major at UConn. I plan on attending medical school, and so I have taken a year of English, Physics, Math, Chemistry, and Biology courses. My learning/teaching style works for any subject, but I have a particular passion for chemistry. I have nearly 2 years of experience in general chemistry tutoring at the UConn Quantitative Learning Center. I have seen hundreds of people, and many of them only came in when I was scheduled because they preferred my low-key, calm demeanor and helpful teaching style.

Many students feel very intimidated by chemistry, and it is my goal to help students feel in control of their academic success. Tutoring can be difficult for both parties if there is a bad relationship, so I also make sure that my students know that I have fundamental respect for them. We're not just robots, though many tutors seem to act this way. I love tutoring, I really do. To see my students succeed brings me great joy. I know how to make complicated ideas simple and easy to understand. I hope, by the end of our sessions, that my students feel that they have gotten more of a fundamental hold on chemistry; not just that they got the answers to some questions.
