About Mitchell

I am a professional football coach and former professional player, with experience working within an elite academy environment, supporting the development of players across both the Foundation Phase and Youth Development Phase.

I hold a UEFA B Licence and Advanced Youth Award, alongside academic study at MSc level. This combination allows me to deliver sessions that reflect both the demands of the professional game and modern, evidence-based coaching methods.

Having experienced the game first-hand, I understand what it takes to develop, perform and progress. I use this to support players not only technically and tactically, but also in building confidence, decision-making and understanding of the game.

I take pride in delivering high-quality sessions that mirror academy standards, while creating an enjoyable and supportive environment where players feel comfortable to learn, make mistakes and grow.

I understand that every player is different, and I aim to build strong relationships with both players and parents to ensure each individual gets the most out of their sessions.

About the lesson

My coaching is built around the individual player, focusing on developing both technical ability and real match performance in a challenging but supportive environment.

Sessions are tailored to each player’s needs, ensuring every detail is relevant to their position, age and stage of development. I use a game-based approach where players are constantly making decisions, not just repeating unopposed techniques. This helps transfer learning directly into matches.

A typical session lasts 60 minutes and includes:

- A ball-based warm-up to develop coordination and confidence
- Technical and position-specific practices
- Opposed and game-realistic scenarios to improve decision-making
- A competitive element to finish, reinforcing learning under pressure

I place a strong emphasis on confidence, communication and understanding the “why” behind actions, helping players become more intelligent and effective on the pitch.

I have experience working within a professional academy environment, supporting players across multiple age groups, and understand what is required for players to progress and perform. My coaching reflects current academy standards and expectations.
