About Abubakar

I have a master's degree in Mathematics and Physics from the University of Stavanger (UiS), specialising in Physics. My master's thesis was awarded an A.

Through several student-assistant appointments at UiS, I have supported students in FYS100, MAT100, MAT200 and ENE211. I currently assist with MAT100. My experience includes problem-solving sessions, assignment guidance, marking and individual support. I have also privately tutored UiS students.

A difficult idea can become much clearer when someone explains it in a way that works for you. In my lessons, you can ask questions, think aloud and try things out without feeling that you should already know the answer. I explain the reasoning behind each method and help you build on what you understand.

Lessons are in English, and we can work with Norwegian textbooks, exercises and past exam papers. My aim is to help you understand the subject and become more confident solving problems independently.

About the lesson

Understand the explanation in class, but get stuck when solving a problem on your own? I help you find the missing step and make physics easier to follow.

I offer support with Physics 1 and Physics 2: mechanics, forces and motion, work and energy, electricity, magnetism, waves, thermal physics and modern physics. We can focus on homework, difficult topics, tests or structured exam preparation.

A typical lesson can include:
• Identifying your goal and where you get stuck.
• Exploring the idea through diagrams, practical examples and a worked solution.
• Trying a similar problem yourself, with guidance when you need it.
• Summarising the method and deciding what to practise next.

We work on understanding the question, choosing the right physical principle, using formulas meaningfully and checking units and answers. The pace fits your starting point, whether you need stronger foundations or more challenging problems.

Lessons are in English, in person in the Stavanger area or online. We can use Norwegian textbooks and past exam papers, explaining key terminology as we go.
