About Kenzie

I’m dedicated to helping students unlock their full potential by teaching them how to think, not just what to memorize. With experience in computer science, biology, chemistry, and algebra, I guide high school and early college students through challenging concepts in a clear, supportive, and engaging way.

My teaching method encourages curiosity and independent problem-solving. I create an environment where every question is welcome, and I help students build confidence by leading them to discover solutions on their own. Lessons are tailored to each student’s pace and learning style, ensuring they not only understand the material but can apply it with ease.

I take professionalism seriously: I am punctual, prepared, and committed to helping students succeed. My goal is for every student to leave a session feeling capable, confident, and ready to tackle their next challenge.

My Approach as a Tutor

I teach in a way that empowers students to discover solutions on their own. I guide them through problems by asking thought-provoking questions and encouraging them to think critically, so they often arrive at the answer before I step in. I firmly believe there are no stupid questions, and I foster a supportive environment where curiosity is rewarded, and students feel comfortable exploring concepts without fear of judgment.

Teaching Method and Techniques
I use a student-centered approach, blending guided problem-solving with interactive discussion. I start by assessing the student’s understanding, then tailor my explanations to fill gaps while keeping the student actively engaged. Techniques I use include real-world examples, step-by-step walkthroughs, analogies, and Socratic questioning to help students build confidence and independent problem-solving skills.

Typical Lesson Plan

Warm-Up / Check-In: Review previous material or identify current challenges.

Concept Introduction: Present the topic in an accessible, relatable way.

Guided Practice: Work through problems together, asking questions to lead students toward solutions.

Independent Practice: Students tackle similar problems with support as needed.

Reflection and Q&A: Summarize key takeaways, answer questions, and highlight strategies for future problems.

What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor
I focus on teaching students how to think, not just what to memorize. My goal is for students to leave sessions with strategies they can apply independently, gaining confidence in their ability to tackle new challenges. My approach is adaptable, patient, and rooted in the belief that every student can succeed with the right guidance.

Who My Lessons Are For
I work primarily with high school students and first-year college students. I specialize in computer science, biology, chemistry, and algebra. My sessions are particularly beneficial for students seeking clarity in complex concepts, struggling to keep up with class material, or wanting to build strong problem-solving skills for exams and assignments.
